These Canadian celebrities have joined the growing list of celebrities worldwide that are protesting the cruel international trade in the fur of slaughtered dogs and cats:

Jason Priestly

Jason Priestly is known by many for his starring role in Beverly Hills 90210.  His latest, brand new television undertaking is a comedy, Love Monkey, about a record producer.

Jason Priestly's letter to Canada's Prime Minister

(sent Nov. 2005, to past-Prime Minister Paul Martin)

"As you may know, more than two million cats and dogs per year are raised in deplorable conditions in China and cruelly slaughtered solely for their fur.  That fur is used in coats, linings, toys and other items - many of which are being purchased around the globe by unwitting consumers.  These products are often not labeled or fraudulently labeled to prevent consumers from knowing what they are purchasing.  some of the items (for example: fur covered children's toys) have been tested for toxicity and they have contained excessive levels of chromium - a metal that can harm children.  In short, this is a business that is immensely cruel to animals, a fraud on the public and potentially harmful to children.

I have been working with a number of celebrities to assist legislators in banning this cruel trade.  Among my colleagues who are involved in this effort are:  Drew Barrymore, Charlize Theron, Paul McCartney and his wife Heather.

The US, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, France, Greece, Switzerland have already banned this fur in response to the public's outrage over this industry.  We urge you to take the initiative on this issue and put a stop to it.  Canada must join the growing list of nations standing up to this cruelty and to its inherent fraud.  Only a united global effort will end this barbaric business once and for all.

The treatment of these animals is so unimaginable that words could never do it justice.  Therefore, I am sending you a video so you can see for yourself why we must enforce a ban and not allow a country to profit from such a cruel business.

I would be happy to assist you in any way to obtain a ban on the importation of dog and cat fur into Canada.  Thank you for your consideration."

Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall is well known for her starring role as Samantha Jones in the popular television series Sex in the City

Kim Cattrall's letter to Canada's  Prime Minister

(sent Dec. 2005, to past-Prime Minister Paul Martin)

"I am writing to you in hope of enlisting your help in banning China's exportation of dog and cat fur in to Canada.  At present, our country is one of the few remaining countries that are still contributing to the thousands of animals being needlessly slaughtered.

The pain, suffering and cruelty inflicted on these animals are beyond human comprehension.  Without taking action we, as a country, are giving our nonverbal consent for this abuse to continue because we are buying the product that is a result of this cruelty.  No one should profit from such barbaric and brutal treatment of innocent animals.

I'm sure if you saw the footage and photographs, as I have, you would understand my upset and anger.  I can send you both and you can see for yourself how these animals are stuffed into cages where they cannot stand or turn around; they are skinned alive as they howl and writhe in pain with a noose around their necks, while the others wait their turn, shaking in terror.

This is why I am going to do all I can to make sure Canada is not an enabler to China's barbaric fur industry.  I hope that you will join me and Sir Paul McCartney and others in stopping this agony and suffering.  We have already successfully stopped this trade in many countries.  My goal is to make Canada the next.

Should you need further information, photos, or footage, please contact us at the address and number below.

Thank you for your time.  I hope that you too will put an end to this inhumane industry."
