Introduction:  Our Commitment to Being an Education and Resource Provider

It is our intent and passion, at Fur-Bearer Defenders, to raise awareness about trapping and other fur cruelty issues, to promote compassionate change. 

We provide both information and resources to the public, the government, and the media, with the objective of providing accurate, pertinent information and effective tools to bring positive change for animals.

Fur-Bearer Defenders takes great pride in being careful, accurate, fair, and responsible in the information and resources that we provide.  We make every effort to ensure this standard throughout all our work.  

We feel that it is critical that the source of all our work be identifiable, so that any potential questions regarding its origin, authenticity or accuracy, can always be fully addressed by Fur-Bearer Defenders.  

As such, we have set down parameters below for the proper use and crediting of our materials and resources.


Sharing and Reprinting of Fur-Bearer Defenders’

Website Content

Any of the content and ideas on Fur-Bearer Defenders’ website can be freely shared and reproduced, as long as the appropriate safeguards are taken and copyrights respected.  These include ensuring that:

Use and Reproduction of Fur-Bearer Defenders’
Printed Materials, and Graphic Art

We encourage the use and reproduction of our printed materials and graphic art (eg. posters, brochures, postcards, stickers, newsletters, etc).  We generally authorize their use freely as long as the appropriate safeguards are taken and copyrights respected.  These include ensuring that:

We strongly encourage that reproductions of Fur-Bearer Defenders’ printed materials and graphic art be limited only to high enough resolution scanning and/or printing such that high quality is maintained, and to sizes that maintain a text font size of at least 11 points for readability.  Please contact Fur-Bearer Defenders’ office for original quality copies of our materials whenever possible.  We usually have numerous copies ready that we would be pleased to share with you, to reduce the need for individual photocopying.

Photos

The photos on Fur-Bearer Defenders’ website come from various sources.  Fur-Bearer Defenders holds the title to authorize reproduction on some of the photos, but not others.  Specific instructions are noted here for some of the photos, and if you are interested in using the others, please contact us for further information.

Fur-Bearer Defenders’ Trapped Animal photos 

The photos on our Trapped Animal Photo page can be provided courtesy of Fur-Bearer Defenders.  They, and all other trapped animal photos that are courtesy of Fur-Bearer Defenders, may be used and reproduced as long as the appropriate safeguards are taken and copyrights respected.  These include ensuring that:

When special authorization is not required, Fur-Bearer Defenders would always appreciate notification.

We encourage the maintenance of as high resolution reproduction of our photos as possible.  We are also happy to receive requests for high quality copies or high resolution files of our photos.  Please give us as much time as possible in order that we may fulfill your requests in a timely manner.

If the photos are being reproduced as part of an article or information sheet on these fur cruelty issues, Fur-Bearer Defenders would be available to help check the accuracy of the information.

We welcome the sharing and showing of Fur-Bearer Defenders’ videos and TV ads without special authorization from us, including onto the world wide web, as long as the appropriate safeguards are taken and copyrights respected.  These include:

We encourage the maintenance of as high resolution viewing of our videos and ads as possible.  We usually have high quality beta tapes available upon request.

Use of Fur-Bearer Defenders’ Logo, Name, and Website Address, 
and the Representation of Fur-Bearer Defenders

Authority to write, speak or represent oneself in any way as conveying a message on behalf of or from the Fur-Bearer Defenders is restricted to trained  and authorized personnel within the Fur-Bearer Defenders organization only.  This includes any and all use of Fur-Bearer Defenders’ letterhead and logo, or any claim to the media or public to be speaking or writing on behalf of, or as a representative of the Fur-Bearer Defenders organization. 

We encourage Fur-Bearer Defenders’ webpage addresses to be used and reprinted freely, as long as it is not being used in such a way that it implies official affiliation or official representation or support by the Fur-Bearer Defenders organization, to the materials, ideas, or circumstance it is being used in relation to.  And, if the use involves a direct link to our webpages, the qualifications in the “Links to Fur-Bearer Defenders’ Webpages” section above also apply.
